About me . . .
I have a B.A. degree from Sonoma State University’s School of Expressive Arts, a two-year upper division interdisciplinary experimental program. Students, in consultation with faculty advisors and colleagues, designed their own course of study and were free to choose both the subjects and the media for their personal expression. This transformative educational experience set the path for my interesting career as a mixed media artist and photographer, and as a curator for 10 fabulous years at Highways Performance Space and Gallery.
My undergrad experience also laid the groundwork for working within and beyond the confines of old-school nonprofit management. In addition I have a Masters of Public Administration degree from California State University Northridge. My thesis was titled Cultural Competency in Los Angeles Arts Nonprofits. Experience in all areas of nonprofit from volunteer to curator to executive director to board member has helped me develop the ability to quickly assess the organization’s needs and present the strategies to move forward.
I have conducted workshops for artists and have been a grants panelist for the Los Angeles County Arts Commission for several years. I am currently on the board of directors of Launch LA and the Sober Living Network. I have worked closely with a variety of amazing nonprofit organizations and artists throughout Los Angeles and the Big Island of Hawaii.
